What You Should Know About Geometric Design

The interlocking tessellating patterns of geometric pattern can be a wonderful addition to your home. The geometric pattern is visually stimulating and creates harmony and rhythm. Like the floral trend, geometric patterns are not out of fashion.
For centuries, geometric patterns were used in architecture and interiors from the Greeks through the Moroccans. Although pattern may conjure images of dramatic and bold displays, it does not necessarily have to be.
12 Reasons Why You Should Love the Geometric Trend

As they add order and interest, repeating defined shapes can be soothing to the eyes. You don’t have to use as many geometric patterns as you like in your home.

You should not use this type of expression by choosing a pattern or colour too often to overstimulate your senses. Here are my 12 Reasons to love the Ongoing Geometric trend. These include subtle colour choices and texture as well as scale and texture.

1. Focus!

To accentuate the focal point in a room’s room, use geometric patterns.

Even subtle colors can help you focus. The choice of how dramatic or subtle a look you choose is entirely up to your personal taste.

Use geometric patterned rug patterns to create accessories, such as pillows throws or art. It’s important to make the room the center of attention by highlighting the layers that make up the different elements.

2. Neutral decor

There are people who are passionate about colour but there are also those who are more comfortable with a neutral palette. However, neutral colours need to be paired with contrasting textures or visual interest to avoid them looking monotonous and boring.

It’s a great way of adding visual interest to your space without appearing too busy.

These accessories, rugs and other furniture pieces are perfect for adding focus to areas other then your floors or sofas.

You might also consider wallpaper. You can find some amazing geometric designs even if your preference is for something less vibrant and more neutral.

3. Oversize

Be sure to measure the area in which the pattern will be used. Large repeating patterns, especially on walls and ceilings, can make a small room seem smaller. For maximum impact, large-scale patterns can be used on large areas of wall. You will find smaller repeating patterns that work well on smaller walls such as the bathroom. You still get a lot of impact from them.

4. Decorative Balance

You can balance out more repetitive patterns that are decorative with more subdued ones to achieve a balanced look. This will prevent them from dominating a room.

This hallway is an excellent example of how repeating, decorative patterned floor tiles can steal the spotlight while the blue metro tiles balance it out. It is amazing how contrasting colors and textures can make this hallway shine.

5. Monochrome Experiment

You can experiment with geometric patterns by sticking to a monochrome color scheme. This will help you create a cohesive look.

6. It All About the Detail

It’s a great way to introduce subtle geometric patterns by changing the hardware on your cupboards and doors (especially in lightening black kitchen trends). A metallic element will add interest and reflectivity to darker interiors.

7. Art Deco Inspired

It is clear that Art Deco was a time when colour, pattern, style and design were all important. This trend is still embraced today. These Audenza placemats add elegance and glamour to the dining experience.

8. Mix It Up

Mixing geometric patterns can be done with accessories, such as cushions. Venoor Living cushions are my favorite. They allow you to maintain a consistent look and play with pattern.

9. Let There be Light

Decorative lighting is a great way to add interest to your room. This Dowsing and Reynolds one has black geometric lines and a shimmering golden bulb holder.

Geometric pendants are a great option if you’re looking for an eye-catching way to brighten up a space.

10. Furniture with Feature Features

Interiors are definitely in fashion with statement chairs. So why not go for one that incorporates geometry? This stunning design was inspired by American mid century furnishings. The laser-cut hexagonal details add visual interest.

11. Floor Drama

Rugs are an excellent way to break up large amounts of flooring.

Carpetright multi-coloured rugs such as this one allow you to add and experiment with colour in your home.

No matter what type of rug you choose, make sure it matches your decor.

12. Accessories

Even small accessories can make a difference if you’re wary of large pieces with a pattern. Audenza’s monochrome utensil and pot pots are my favourite. They will jazz up any kitchen.

Last, but not least, consider adding a subtle geometric design to your home with reflective surfaces such as these mirror tiles.

The role of geometric patterns in our homes is more of an accent and should not be overdone. It is important to remember that less is more. You’ll get your money’s worth no matter how you use it. You can add interest and vitality without requiring too much effort. You won’t find anything better!
